I would feel very remiss if I didn't mention this, cause it's worth it:

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Larissa first brought this up to me and it needs to be watched. Starting next Tuesday, Joss Whedon will begin to put the three episodes of this up on the website, www.drhorrible.com . This was what he decided to make during the writer's strike, to prove that you can actually make some professional for very little. It's gonna be entirely free this week it's coming out, with the second part on Thursday and the final part on Saturday. It stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, a super villain, and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, his superhero foil. Seriously, watch it when it comes out. Joss will eventually put it out on DVD which you should buy also, since it's the only way the crew gets paid!

In unrelated news, I may finally have a job prospect, which has made me postpone my trip home this weekend a little bit. More on this later.

So as I'm sure all four of you who ever see this have known, I've become a bit addicted to American Idol this season. And honestly, it's entirely because of the guy in my icon. David Cook is BEYOND phenomenal. Almost all his performances have been so completely better than anyone else's performances. The week he really won me over completely was the day he sang Billie Jean, but did the Chris Cornell arrangement. It was GREAT! I'm honestly making a bullshit post because I feel it necessary to be able to use this awesome David Cook icon, haha.

Also, I think I found something out a couple days ago and I don't know what to make of it. I'll leave it there.

[mood |In severe pain]

I swear, I must have looked like House without his cane earlier this evening. My right knee has been killing me tonight. Everytime I move it in any way, a sharp pain shoots through my leg. I have no clue why or how it started, I just know it SUCKS. So I've been hobbling around my apartment trying to walk without bending my knee. Yet all I could think of was to laugh at myself since I feel like House whenever he loses his cane. It's a ridiculous image, I know...I blame this somehow on the wine party last night, where apparently I got really really drunk. There's def portions of the night that are a blur, lol. Maybe I kneed a wall or something.

I'm scared to play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance anymore...I'm finally to that fight that I've been dreading. Chapter 27, aka the one where you fight the Black Knight afterwards with only Ike and Mist. I just KNOW my Ike is gonna get ass-raped though. None of his stats are maxed or anywhere NEAR maxed so Aether won't have enough of a chance to proc. Basically, I'm gonna keep doing this second fight OVER AND OVER cause I want Nasir over Ena, so I gotta win somehow. If I get really lucky, maybe Ike will kill the Black Knight. We'll find out tomorrow...

I think I have a new favorite song from a video game. I hadn't realized how awesome a song ICARO from Shadow Hearts: From the New World was. The acoustic rendition is beyond beautifully awesome. Also, I have a hilarious story to tell later about one of the statistics teachers who was at the seminar I was at earlier in the day.

[music |The Who - "Won't Get Fooled Again"]

So after much deliberation and spending a lot of time while I was home looking for Halloween stores to come up with a costume, tonight was the big party I needed it for. After many ideas, I finally came up with one that I could somewhat pull off, hopefully....Before I reveal it (plus all of you know it since I told you all), I just wanna say I realize something now: A lot of my costume ideas involved me dressing up in nice clothes and temp-dyeing my hair. Tony Stark. Bruce Wayne. And, the one I did go with....Horatio Caine. That's right. I walked around the party with my hair spray-dyed orange, wearing sunglasses, and pointing out the insanely obvious with bad puns, one liners, and dramatic pauses. Plus whipping sunglasses on and off. I only kept it up briefly though, cause being Horatio is a tiring event. It's sorta like being Orlando Bloom....You just CAN'T keep UP with the RANdom TONE inflecTIONS for very LONG. Anyways...Regardless, it was a fun night. Scott was dressed as a Tusken Raider and looked awesome. Jackson was Clint Eastwood from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Michelle and her roommates dressed as the Scooby Doo gang (Michelle was Velma, Lisa was Daphne, Aaron was Shaggy, and the dog was Scooby). But prolly my favorite costume of the night was Rachel's....okay, I guess that would have been a given regardless of what she dressed as...but she was a lady bug. She had antenna, a red tank top with polka dots taped on, a skirt, red tights/leggings/stockings, and high heels. Plus wings. It was really awesome. Kinda jaw-droppingly awesome when I first saw it. All in all a fun night, though there's no pictures. No one will ever get to see Horatio-Matt. Which is prolly a good thing. Rachel may say it looked good, but I think it looked pretty retarded.

So this is one of those random thoughts that I think about instead of getting work done...

When is the appropriate holiday to watch Nightmare Before Christmas? Is it Halloween? Is it Christmas? Is it Thanksgiving, the holiday that falls directly between the two? Is it, as Chris suggested, Black Friday, as it's associated with Christmas, it's in between the two holidays also, and, if you've ever been out shopping on it, you'll know it's fucking scary! So I put it out there to you guys...When is the most appropriate holiday to watch NBC?

Also, if anyone wants to do something this weekend, I'll be back up in Jersey, helping out with my mom. Only thing that's definitely planned is I'll be in NYC to see Springsteen Thursday night.

Hi. My name is Matt........and I'm an addict. And my addiction is a bad one...........I'm addicted.....to Hannah Montana. I cannot explain the appeal of this show, but anytime it's on (and it's on A LOT since the Disney Channel has like four shows), I find myself drawn to it. I bet it has something to do with that damn Billy Ray Cyrus. How this man convinced someone they should make a show about his daughter and then include him basically playing himself is beyond me...He even sings a lot on it. But, yeah...It's bad. I literally have like 5 or 6 episodes scheduled to be recorded tomorrow. And I think I've watched at least that many over the last two or three days. So I'm an addict.

[music |The Fantastic Four Cartoon's Original Theme Song]

So I'm sure most of you who read this have seen AMV Hell 1-3. Well, they just released AMV Hell 4 recently.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5546478914068728125

My personal favorite moment so far? Having One Piece clips that correspond to the very old Fantastic Four cartoon's original theme song. Luffy being Reed (who's elastic), Nami turning invisible with her Climatect being Sue (who fades from sight), Portgaz being Johnny (cause he's the Human Torch), and Chopper as the Thing (who just loves to fight). Pure genius.

In other news, why do I so often act like an unfair asshat to women I like? I did it to Larissa and almost ruined our friendship and now I'm doing it down here. It's so fucking stupid.

Matt's Awesome Weekend [Sep. 25th, 2007|03:12 pm]
[Current Location |Washington DC]
[music |Three Days Grace - "Never Too Late"]

So last weekend was one of the most fun weekends I've had in a long time.

Came home on Friday. Instead of taking the train, which would have gotten me there in like two hours, I chose to come home with Rachel, since she was coming home too for Sunday's concert. However, she had to work till 4:30. This meant we'd have to come back during rush hour. So a 3 hour drive ended up taking us like 5-6 hours, and I didn't get home till 9:30ish. However, I wouldn't have changed it at all. We made the best of our situation of being stuck in traffic. This involved playing the "What embarrassing songs are on Matt's iPod" game. Always a fun one. Let's just say it involved a lot of country music, a lot of Disney music, a lot of pop music, and a lot of singing. Considering I don't really enjoy singing in the car when there are other people around to hear me, I was kinda surprised. Regardless, traffic eventually cleared up once we got out of the DC Metropolitan area, and it was nice and clear driving the rest of the way, especially once we hit Baltimore. So I got back at 9:30 (and I felt bad for Rachel cause she still had another hour drive to get back to Piscataway).

Next up was Saturday. Had to get up nice and early to go get my hair cut. This was followed by the annual trip to the Renaissance Faire. Since most of the normal people who go had graduated, they were gonna meet up at Will's and go from there. I felt bad for those still at TCNJ so I chose to drive up to TCNJ separately from everyone else and get Kelly and Larissa. So I collected them and we set forth for the two hour drive to Lancaster. It wasn't too bad, though we had a couple moments of taking the wrong exit or not really knowing what was going on, but we made it. Got to the Faire and caught up with everyone else. It was really great seeing everyone, and that seriously made the trip right there. I was like "We don't even have to DO anything at the Renaissance Faire and I'm already extremely happy with this trip!" Though we did finally get to see that damn Falconer. The show was just pretty cool, but the birds were absolutely amazing. Fuck being a forensic scientist, I wanna be a falconer. I'm sure there's tons of work now for them...Regardless, it was an amazingly fun day that involved seeing Barely Balanced play with fire, which is always a great plan. The finale was yet again insanely long....INSANELY long. But most of the songs weren't too bad this year, so I could deal with it. Followed up the Ren Faire with dinner where we usually go and then it was time to say bye to everyone. I really wished I had more time to hang around with everyone. Seeing them really made the trip for me. Can't wait till my next trip to Jersey so I can see people again!

Finally, it came Sunday. Rachel, her friend Steve, and I were going to the MMRBQ 2 at the Tweeter Center to see two local Philly bands, Seether, Collective Soul, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Live. Unfortunately, Steve got stuck in traffic coming back to Piscataway, so we didn't leave on time. Cause of that, we ended up missing the two Philly bands and Seether. For some reason, Seether went on before one of the stupid local bands, which makes no sense to me. Regardless, we got there right as Collective Soul came on. They were cool, but their music just didn't have the energy to get the crowd going. They also just sorta played their music and that was that. No doing other stuff, talking to the crowd, dancing along to the music, nothing. Though the lead singer was enjoying playing with his mic stand a bit too much, and even dropped it at one point. So while it was definitely good to SEE CS, the rest of the bands absolutely blew them out of the water (I was gonna make a "Blow Me Away" reference, but I figured most people wouldn't get it).

So then Three Days Grace came out. I wasn't a huge fan of 3DG before the concert, but damn if they didn't convert me. The lead singer, despite seeming very screemoish, had so much energy and really got the crowd going. They ended up playing 11 songs, seven of which I knew, so that was good. I really loved hearing stuff like "I Hate Everything About You" and "Animal I've Become" live. Yet, I sorta had a feeling the best was still to come.

Which is when the best did come. Breaking Benjamin was FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Like, I think they might have not only been the greatest band of the seven there, it might have been one of the greatest live groups I've ever seen. They might have even topped Tool, which I would find amazing, since my Tool concert was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Ben just had so much energy and seemed to LOVE interacting with the crowd. There was even one moment where Ben decided he wanted to throw water bottles to the mosh pit. Well, he threw some then decided he couldn't throw far enough. So he decided to hop down into the mosh pit with the water bottle dude and start tossing them to the back of the pit. It was insane. And Ben was like "I have no clue how I'm getting back up there...Maybe I should have thought of that first.." Or my other favorite moment was when they all started playing a Live song, got through the first verse, and Ben was just like "Wait...They're playing later...We're not Live!" The whole experience of seeing BB in concert was great. I mean, I'm normally a more reserved person when I go to sporting events or concerts or what not, preferring to sit back and enjoy the music, but Ben just made me wanna stand up and scream along with them, so it was amazing. I definitely want to see Breaking Benjamin again somewhere by themselves, or at least where they're the headliner and get to play more than 11 songs.

Finally, Live closed out the night. I almost felt bad for Ed and the rest of Live. They were great, but the crowd was kinda burned out after 3DG and BB, so they didn't really want to stand up and sing along, but I still stood and sang along for Live. Getting to see them play stuff like The Dolphin's Cry, They Stood Up For Love, I Alone, Selling the Drama, and Lightning Crashes was amazing. The crowd really did get into Lightning Crashes though. And Ed easily had the most energy of the lead singers. Him and his guitarist were ALL over the stage like crazy little dynamos. Ed would make up dances to go along with the song, and sit there and dance with himself. Or the guitarist liked to pretend he was a sumo wrestler during his solos and do the foot stamp thing. It was insane. Unfortunately, this was the one part where we had a bad moment of the entire concert. All three of us were sorta standing/sitting on the seats but while they were up, so we were basically standing. Well, I don't know whether someone walking by didn't like that or someone was really drunk and just threw their beer for the hell of it or someone from the lawn didn't like it, but we definitely had a beer thrown at us and Rachel thinks she got spit on. That really pissed me off, but I chose to just keep standing cause I figured that'd just piss them off more if they really did do it cause we were some of the only people standing. Regardless, it was an absolutely great night and I'm so glad Rachel wanted to go so in turn I could go cause I knew no one else would really wanna go see BB and Live together. I think one of the things that made it so great was just getting to look over at Rachel while Breaking Benjamin was playing and seeing the look of absolute glee on her face. It was kinda funny in a way but it was still great.

And then I came back to DC and back to having to be a TA and I'll leave it at that.

Let's just say you can't go wrong with using the song Iron Man in promoting this movie. I am absolutely drooling at this trailer. If this movie doesn't end up being amazing, I am really sorry for providing all this hype to you all, but if it's as good as it seems so far, this might be the Marvel movie that rivals Batman Begins in my book.

So, since I never really remember to ask this when I see you guys online, I figured I'd just make an LJ entry since most of you are on here anyways.

I'm coming home the weekend of September 21st (not this coming weekend but the following) cause I'm going to a concert that Sunday. However, I was wondering if anyone would wanna go that Saturday up to the PA Renaissance Faire since that'll probably be my best chance. Let me know if anyone can do it that weekend so I can plan accordingly, but regardless I'm sure you'll see me that weekend.

So I'm down in DC. No real internet or anything yet (this post is coming from my dad's laptop with it's Verizon Wireless PC card, in case anyone was wondering). Apartment is really small, but we've made do. Hopefully later this week Comcast will get their butts out here and give me internet, phone and TV. I'm debating coming back to Jersey till Wednesday, but most likely won't. I'll give you an update on that if I do show up. Got a full-sized bed, a sofa, an AirBed, a futon, a nice TV stand, a desk chair. The kitchen is insanely small but we managed to fit a nice little table in. My apartment not only is insanely close to GW (two blocks to the building with all my classes in it) but also insanely close to the White House and all the monuments. From the small amount of driving around with my parents, I've repeatedly driven by the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, the Smithsonian, the Pentagon. It's insane to think that everything is so close and I'm actually going to school here. Well, scratch coming home, I need to be here tomorrow between 3 and 6 since Comcast should be here then. Hopefully you guys will wanna come visit, cause I definitely have places for people to sleep and I'm gonna be lonely, lol. Dark out! I mean...No, I meant Dark out! :-P

[mood | nerdy]

Since Chris was away this week, I thought I'd add some comments I had during Who Wants to Be a Superhero, since he won't have my comments like normal, lol.

- I really really hate Sam Fischer more and more. Dude is just a total assclown. Doesn't know when to shut his mouth. In fact, he loses his Sam Fischer name. He's back to just being The Defuser. Sam is too cool to be mentioned near him.
- Is it bad I called the three heroes to be brought up before Stan like 20 minutes in to the show. Once Basura ignored the woman and her daughter, I was just like "Eliminated..." Kinda sucks that the only attractive woman is now gone. Not as bad as when he eliminated Lemuria last year for taking THE HARD CHALLENGE...But still.
- I realized that eliminations on this show are entirely on the whim of one old man with what appears to be dimentia.
- Am I the only one who thought Dr. Dark was replaced by The Fonz in his mugshot with the cops? Seriously, he was totally in the EYYYYYYYYY pose.
- Also, how the flippity fuck did Hygena on the comic look like AMAZINGLY hot? There's no WAY that's supposed to be the Hygena we have on the show....She wasn't crying!
- Holy shit! FEEDBACK FIGHTS A GIANT HORRIBLY ANIMATED CG SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Hmmmmm....Heroes are never indecisive and unsure, Stan? Are you sure...I think I know a certain someone who's the KING of indecisiveness. Granted, you never invented him like you did THE GODDAMNED BATMAN, but still...He's like one of THE major heroes in your company right now...Dammit you senile old man!

I had more thoughts but I was watching the show in a room where I couldn't write down them so I've already forgotten them.

I'm sorry to whatever else is in the game, Dragonforce HAS to be the last song. Although I wouldn't be surprised if "One" by Metallica is the last song. Okay, I don't know how long this video will stay up on Youtube, but watch this ASAP if you can:

It's the footage from Comic-Con that Jon Favreau brought of Iron Man. It's absolutely drool worthy. I just cannot wait for this movie. The more I see, the more I get the feeling this will be the next Spider-Man and not the next Elektra or Daredevil. Also, I read that apparently Nick Fury is going to show up in this movie, and it's gonna be used as a way to try and make the Marvel Movie world more cohesive and eventually lead to an Avengers movie. And oh yeah, Samuel L Jackson is said to be the actor playing Nick here!!! Yeah, I definitely am getting more and more hyped for this movie.

Side-Note from Matt [Jul. 23rd, 2007|12:19 am]

This is a random question that hit me as I was sitting here getting ready for bed...Am I like THE only person in the world who wants to leisurely enjoy reading the last Harry Potter on his own time, and not rush through it? I mean, I'm about 250 pages in and absolutely loving it so far, and if I really wanted to could easily have finished it by now. But I dunno, I don't like the idea that it'll be over so I'd rather stretch it out or something instead of finishing it all right away. Am I the only person like that, cause I keep seeing people everywhere posting about how they've already finished it and I'm like "Why?" Yes, these are the random thoughts Matt has at night. Bizarre indeed.

[mood | tired]

I'm back from Disney, and I'll probably post more about it later. I'm tired from this trip is all I'll say. It was six and a half days of running ragged throughout Disney on a torrent of getting stuff done. Although we did end up riding pretty much everything there. Also, if you go now, DEFINITELY do the Expedition Everest ride in Animal Kingdom. That is such a cool ride and probably my favorite ride ever. Also, I had ideas on getting gifts for people, but they were mostly in Downtown Disney stores, which we were originally gonna go back to Saturday (today). Unfortunately, other stuff came up and I was unable to get back to DD, so I couldn't pick up the stuff... >.< I apologize for that.

The only other thing I wanted to say was holy crap was the Sinestro Corps special insane. Don't read any further if you don't wanna be spoiled if you do read comics. But holy fucking shit did I not see any of that coming. Kyle being kidnapped by the Sinestro Corps and becoming the new embodiment of Parallax was insane. It was so heart-wrenching to see Kyle be broken down by Sinestro. And then the big reveal at the end (which I'll admit I didn't understand at first) of the Anti-Monitor being back and being the true controller of the Sinestro Corps dropped my jaw. And that Superboy Prime is back and in the Corps. That means the two major villains of the last two DC crisises (Anti-Monitor from Crisis on Infinite Earths and Superboy Prime from Infinite Crisis) have teamed up along with Parallax-controlling-Kyle, (Parallax was what turned Hal Jordan into a homicidal maniac who almost destroyed the entire universe), and Sinestro. That's one formidable villain group.

Also, I need to start hanging out with Rachel more often. Not that that won't happen way too much soon when we're down in DC, but still. And her friends were interesting too. They were definitely a cool bunch and Rachel's graduation/birthday party was nice.

Also, I saw Alyssa Milano today. She was at the Moorsetown Mall. Something about a fashion show or what not. True story. She's a midget. She came up to maybe my chest. It was kind of funny. Though she's strikingly gorgeous in real life. That is all.

Looks like next season is the last season of the re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. That's gonna be really sad to think about because, honestly, BSG is one of the best shows on TV today. Although I suppose it's better for the show to end on the producers' terms instead of getting canceled sometime down the road. Also of note is that there's gonna be at least one episode before 2008 since the premiere is a 2 hour long episode that's gonna air in November.

[mood |Pirate-y]

Just a quick entry tonight. Too tired to go into details on anything, lol.

Chris and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End today. Now, going in, the reviews were decidedly meh and Will had seen it before us and he said it wasn't that good, so I was worried. However, that was EASILY the best of the third movies that came out this May. It easily blew Dead Man's Chest out of the water (and this is coming from someone who actually enjoys DMC). There was just so much right about AWE for me. I'm not sure how to compare it to CotBP, cause as Chris said coming out, it's like comparing apples and oranges. But it might even be as good as CotBP. I'm definitely gonna have to give it a repeat viewing in theaters sometime soon. One thing I absolutely loved about it though, was that it didn't wrap things up happily ever after. As much as I was rooting for Will and Elizabeth throughout the movie, I loved how it ended for them. And I loved Norrington throughout. He is easily the character I've most come to like through DMC and AWE, although he's a lot harder to pick out in this one without his long hair and hobo beard. I confused him with Beckett at one point! But since I don't wanna get too spoilerish since some people might not have seen it yet, I just wanna say everyone should definitely see this movie. I enjoyed it a LOT.
